The Great Commission or Ommission?
When our Lord Jesus was getting ready to ascend back to His Glory, He left us what we know as "The Great Commission." You can find it in Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16, and Acts 1:8. You see instead of taking us to Heaven directly with Him when we get saved we have a job to do, we have been 'commissioned' if you will to accomplish what He commanded us to do. He tells us in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." ESV This is for all born again believers, not just preachers and deacons, staff members or evangelists. If you are a child of God this commission was given to you. Yes, to you. When we see that first word, "GO" in verse 19, it is a word that is translated from the Greek to mean, "as you go, or on the way." Don't think the Great Commission is only done by people traveling round the world or into inner cities. IT can be done as YOU go to the store, work, school, the gym, just about anywhere you go, you can share the Gospel the Lord commissioned us to do. Think about it, pray about, and ask God to reveal to your heart what you should be doing. Blessings!
